How many attendees are you expecting at the opening?
Our anticipated audience will be about 150.
When will the exhibit be held?
The Design Excellence Exhibit will be held beginning on March 15 and run until April 2, 2004. The Official Opening and Reception is on Friday March 26, 2004.
Who will be attending the opening?
- Students of the School of Design (upper-division);
- Faculty and staff of the College of Architecture and Environmental Design;
- Members of the professional associations;
- Invited guests.
What are the sources for sponsorships?
- Support from the School of Design
- Four sponsors from the professional community (AIGA, ASID, IDSA, IIDA, IFDA and SEGD) for individual awards in graphic design, industrial design and interior design
- Corporate and/or individual sponsors for the reception.
The awards are given by each professional association to students selected by a representative jury of
the same associations.
What is the selection process for the student projects?
The selection process will begin internally within the School of Design. Students from the upper division
will be asked to submit projects by Feb 6, 2004. Faculty discipline will then select the best five finalists in each design discipline. The selected work will be mounted in the College's Gallery of Design. The external juries will be invited to view the work and to select the winners any time after March 8, 2004. The winners will be announced at the opening.
